Every week we update this document with a new term.

Rapid Site Setup

This means getting a construction, engineering or project site up and running quickly.

Some companies look to use either fibre or ADSL to deliver low latency connectivity at site.
Often overlaying the access with an MPLS (multiprotocol label switching) protocol, to deliver secure services.

This can make it impractical for the company to work on single high latency connections such as satellite during the mobilisation phase of projects.

  • Establish working sites more quickly; avoid the cost and time delays to commencing work on site caused by waiting for terrestrial connections.

Here’s more on the limitations of satellite at the BT rapid site setup page

Onwave is a company that uses a variety of connectivity methods to mitigate issues associated with traditional connectivity partners. A major issue is unpredictability of supply. It is not always known how long it will take for traditional suppliers to deliver. Onwave achieves Rapid Site Setup through the bonding and aggregating of immediately available services, managed using a Hybrid Site approach.
